Western Star is a company that produces freight vehicles. Today, more than 46% of all Western Star car sales are in Canada, 43% in the United States and 11% in other countries.
Western Star trucks are produced for highway commercial transportation, mining, forestry and woodworking industries, the oil industry, and are operated at construction sites.
The history of Western Star began in 1967 as the Canadian subsidiary of White Motors Corporation from Cleveland, Ohio. Western Star's manufacturing and engineering facilities are located in Kelowna, British Columbia.
In 1981, White's Western Star subsidiary was acquired by two Canadian firms following the sale of a subsidiary of White Motors, based in the United States, to Sweden's Volvo. Western Star began to work independently, and this independent existence became its pride. In Canada, where 100% of production is made, 93% of all full-time production capacities are concentrated.
